Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Bookifai (“the app”, “we”) collects, why, and the choices you have. Bookifai is operated by Rabee Qiblawi. Contact: rabeeqiblawi@gmail.com.

Information you give us

• Account details — your email address, first and last name, date of birth, and a password (stored only as a secure hash). We ask for your date of birth to confirm you meet the minimum age.
• Sign in with Google — if you choose it, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We use them to create and identify your account.
• Your books and reading activity — the e-books you import, your reading position, bookmarks, and the messages you send to characters.

Where your data lives

• On your device — imported books, reading progress, bookmarks and conversations are stored locally on your phone.
• On our servers — your account, subscription status, and AI usage records (which feature was used, when, and how much it cost) are stored on our servers. If you turn on server-side book processing, the text of the books you send for processing and the results are stored there too.
• Google Drive (optional) — if you connect Google Drive, the app saves a backup of your library data in a private app folder in your own Drive (the drive.appdata permission). It cannot see any of your other Drive files, and you can disconnect at any time.

AI processing

Character chats, stories, recaps and book analysis are generated by AI models. To produce them, the relevant passages of your book and your messages are sent to our AI providers (currently DeepSeek and OpenAI) through our server. We send only what a request needs. We don't use your content to train AI models ourselves; our providers process it under their API terms. If you add your own AI provider in Settings, those requests go directly to the provider you chose, under its own terms.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive a record of the purchase (product, status and renewal dates) to unlock features — never your payment card details.

Email

We send account emails only: sign-up confirmation and password resets. We do not send marketing email.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your personal information.
• We don't show ads or use advertising trackers or analytics SDKs.
• We don't share your data with third parties except the service providers above (hosting, email delivery, AI providers, app stores), and only to run the app — or when required by law.

Google user data

Bookifai's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google Sign-In and Google Drive is used only to sign you in and to back up and restore your own library, and is never transferred or sold for any other purpose.

Security and retention

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and server backups are encrypted. We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data from our servers; copies in backups expire on their normal rotation.

Your choices and rights

• Disconnect Google Drive at any time in Settings.
• Request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account and data, by emailing rabeeqiblawi@gmail.com from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days.

Children

Bookifai is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
